Nigeria Police Rescues Woman,Twin Sons In Oyo State



The Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted on June 3, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed this in a statement issued late on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

According to the statement, the victims were rescued during a coordinated operation by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Ibadan at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Mrs. Adegoke and her children were reportedly abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while she was driving them to school.

DCP Placid stated that the rescue was achieved through sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations, which enabled investigators to track the movements of the kidnappers and engage them in a confrontation.

“During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, and two rifles were recovered. The victims were rescued unharmed and are currently in safe custody, receiving medical care and support,” he said.

The police spokesperson noted that the Inspector-General of Police commended the courage, professionalism, and effectiveness of the FID-IRT operatives and other officers involved in the operation.

“Their resilience and commitment were instrumental in ensuring the safe rescue of the hostages,” he added.

He further disclosed that security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate.

“Preliminary intelligence indicates that some suspects escaped with gunshot injuries. Operations are ongoing to track, arrest, and bring all those involved to justice,” Placid stated.

The Nigeria Police Force also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their support, cooperation, and patience throughout the operation.

“We remain committed to combating violent crime, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the police spokesperson said.
